Birchbox September Review

birchbox september box

This month marks Birchbox's 6 year anniversary and I can say I have been a subscriber for 4 of those years and am still excited every month. Today is also Customer Appreciation Day with fantastic deals including buy one get one free for any full-size Beauty Protector products, 2 for the price of one amika products, 50% off Benefit Cosmetics mascaras and 20% off Marcelle, Das Boom Industries and FOREO - seriously, such a steal on the Beauty Protector and amika products.

R+Co ANALOG Cleansing Foam Conditioner: I loved this product! It's in a pump bottle and comes out so smooth and smells floral and fantastic. It has argon oil, green tea and both strengthens and conditions hair. I'm always a sucker for hair conditioning masks, and this was a really good one and much cheaper than some of my other favorites ($29)

Milk Makeup Highlighter: I was sooo excited to try this product because I've heard great things about this brand. It left me having mixed feelings - it was a really creamy, smooth formula, which is great. However, it was way too shimmery for my liking (I'm talking multi-color glitter type shimmer). It was too much for me, but if there were a toned down version, I think it'd be great. I like to high-end products with drug store products and highlighter isn't one I generally splurge on (Wet-N-Wild for life!).

LOC Ultra-Gloss Lip Pencil in Cherry Bomb: This is the smoothest lip pencil ever! I have gotten a darker shade previously and really liked it and this one was nice too. It's rich and moisturizing the most perfect shade of red. I don't love lip color, but when I wear it, this brand is my go to.

Avene Thermal Spring Water: This type of product is new to me. I've never really understood the whole face mist thing (if you use them, please share with me how/why so I know if I'm missing out?!). I read the directions and this one can be used as a toner, refresher or to calm irritated skin. It said it can also set makeup. I am on board with using it as a toner or to calm irritated skin, but I don't see me spritzing my set face with water throughout the day ... maybe that would be better for drier skin? I liked this but don't see a real need.

Bioderma Sensibio H20: This is a no-rinse makeup remover using micelles and cucumber as it cleans skin. The best way to use it is to soak a cotton pad and use. If it has anything to do with cucumber or micellar water, I am generally sold and this was no different. It's light and delightful and great for travel or busy nights when you don't feel like going through a 12-step beauty regimine.

Happy shopping for Customer Appreciation Day and share your finds!
