August Birchbox Review

August Birchbox Review

The months are flying by - I can't believe it's Birchbox time again! This month's was pretty good, and I actually remembered to customize it and choose my product. I did have a broken product this month, which rarely happens, but they handled it immediately and shipped a new one out to me!

Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel for Face and Body: This is a purifying cleanser that is infused with French thermal spring water. I had never heard of the brand prior to receiving it, and to be honest, I'm kind of up in the air on it. I don't think I want a product that I use on both my face and body? I also think it smells good and fresh yet chemically at the same time. It wasn't drying at all and I noticed my skin got greasy quickly after using it. I would say it's a good product to take if you're trying to condense products or if you have naturally dry skin.

Benefit Cosmetics goof proof brown pencil in 06 Deep: I was excited about this one! I tried their Gimme Brow product (and talked about it here) and have since decided that it wasn't for me because it doesn't allow you to create shape, just color and amount. That said, this pencil was a much better solution. It is waterproof and has a teardrop shape tip for easy application. The shade was a little dark for me for my current hair color and I'm not sure if it's worth switching from the Anastasia one I currently use, but I really did like it and think it's an easier product for brow-filling newbies.

Manna Kadar Costmetics the Day Dream Palette: This was my product that came damaged. I looked online and almost every review of it said the same thing so it may break easily and not be the best item to pack if you're traveling. However, the product was a pearlized shadow and can even be used as a highlighter instead of a shadow so it seemed like it was nice. The palette colors it comes with are all great neutrals, too!

Profile PRO Ultra Nourishing Oil: I really liked the little bottle of this. I don't always love the sample-size versions of things, but this was cute and handy. The oil is non-greasy and is meant to tame frizz and give hair vitamins to stay strong. I think it did help me brush my hair easier (I am guilty of maybe doing it once a week so... it can be a feat) after use and it left it softer so this was a good product and may convert me over to an oil lover.

Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray: Let me start by saying I am in love with this brand. Everything smells so incredibly good that I already had this sample, and this is the item I chose to add as my customized choice! It's a UV protection texturizing spray meant to boost shine, waves and hydrate hair. I think it works pretty good -- I have others that have worked better, but with the way it smells I kind of don't even care? It works well enough that it's worth it!
